Namdev (संत नामदेव कौन थे?)

There have been many saints in North India who devoted their entire lives to the devotion of God.  Similarly, in South India also there have been great saints who have brought God under their control because of their devotion.  In our Maharashtra province, great scholars and hardworking leaders have been born in this era also, Namdev was also born in the same province.  Nothing is known exactly about Namdev's life.  Like many ancient great men, the date of his birth, the names of his parents are all in the dark.  It is known that the name of the person who brought them up was Damodar, Damodar's wife's name was Gunabai, she is famous for her caste and lived in a village called Gokulpur in Pandharpur, on the banks of the Bhima river.  These people are considered to be his parents. The incident happened about 800 years ago.

It is not known where his education took place, it is known that he started practicing yoga from the age of 8, from that time he stopped eating food and used to drink only a little milk to protect the body, used to study himself and he  Unparalleled intellect Dada had gained knowledge, even big scholars used to bow down before his knowledge, earlier people used to believe that someone can have so much knowledge in such a young age, but when people used to talk to him, then his intelligence and knowledge was known.  felt

 And like the saints, there are many stories about them too. They have seen great miracles. It is also known that an incident is told like this.  I had installed the idol of Vitthalnath, which was worshiped daily as per the rules. Those people said to Namdev, we are going out, see, do not eat without feeding Vitthalnath.  After serving, they reached near the idol and started urging Vitthalnath to have food. Vitthalnath did not budge even after being asked to eat, Namdev ji joined him and sat there.  Till Vitthalnath will not take food, I will sit like this.      

When Namdev's father returned and he heard this incident, he could not believe it. Jan Ramdev said again and again, then his surprise knew no bounds because he knew that this child would never lie. He said son, you are lucky to be born in this way.  Succeeded in the world, God was pleased with you and appeared to you himself. Namdev was thrilled to hear this and from that day onwards started worshiping with devotion

 One day Namdev went to collect acacia bark for medicine. He had cut a branch of a tree that blood-like liquid started flowing in it.  One day he became disinterested and left the house. It is not known in what condition he left the house, but it is known that he used to travel in many parts of the country and used to live with saints and bhajan-kirtan.  There was once an incident that he was going somewhere with 400 devotees, people thought that there was a group of dacoits going somewhere to commit dacoity, the officials caught him and took him to the king, where he died in front of the king.  The king was scared to see this miracle and he apologized to him. 

                           Hundreds of such incidents are described in relation to Namdev, even if there is no truth in these incidents, it is known from them that he was a great man, his power and talent was supernatural, he had done such sadhna that he loved yoga so much that  He was able to do things that ordinary people find impossible.

 He himself used to cook food and sing, his disciples also used to sing, he is called Abhang. Hundreds of Abhangs are found in his Rajesh and the people of Maharashtra still call him Abhang with great devotion and reverence. His name is taken with great reverence in the country of Maharashtra.

 Not only Maharashtra, the people of the whole country look at him with great reverence and he is counted in the same category as Tulsidas, Ramdas, Narsi Mehta and Kabir.           

उत्तर भारत में अनेक संत हो गए हैं जिन्होंने भगवान की भक्ति में सारा जीवन लगा दिया । उसी प्रकार दक्षिण भारत में भी महान संत हो गए हैं जिन्होंने भक्ति के कारण भगवान को वश में कर लिया । हमारे महाराष्ट्र प्रांत में इस युग में भी बड़े-बड़े विद्वान और कर्मठ नेता हुए हैं उसी प्रांत में नामदेव का भी जन्म हुआ था । नामदेव के जीवन के संबंध में कुछ ठीक-ठीक पता नहीं मिलता । बहुत से प्राचीन महापुरुषों की भांति इनके जन्म की तिथि इनके माता-पिता का नाम सब अंधकार में है । इतना पता चलता है कि जिन्होंने इन्हें पाला उनका नाम दामोदर था दामोदर की पत्नी का नाम गुनाबाई था यह जाति के चर्चित है और पंढरपुर में गोकुलपुर नामक गांव में रहते थे भीमा नदी के किनारे इन्हेयर नामदेव शिशु की अवस्था में मिले थे यही लोग दया बस नामदेव को उठा लाए थे यही लोग इनके माता-पिता माने जाते हैं घटना आज से लगभग 800 साल पहले की है

              उनकी शिक्षा कहां हुई थी इसका पता नहीं है इतना पता लगता है कि 8 वर्ष की अवस्था से भी योगाभ्यास करने लगे उसी समय से अन्न खाना छोड़ दिया और शरीर की रक्षा के लिए केवल थोड़ा सा दूध पिया करते हैं थे स्वयं अध्ययन करते थे और उन्होंने अपूर्व बुद्धि दादा ज्ञान प्राप्त किया था बड़े-बड़े विद्वान भी उनके ज्ञान के सामने झुक जाते थे पहले लोग विश्वास करते थे कि इतनी कम अवस्था में इतना ज्ञान किसी को हो सकता है किंतु जब लोग इनसे बात करते थे तब उनकी बुद्धि तथा ज्ञान का पता लगता था

              और संतों के समान इन के विषय में भी अनेक कथाएं मिलती हैं उन्होंने बड़े बड़े चमत्कार देखना है यह भी पता चलता है एक घटना इस प्रकार बताई जाती है इनके पिता इनकी माता को साथ लेकर कहीं बाहर गए यह लोग कृष्ण के बड़े भक्त थे और घर में विट्ठलनाथ की मूर्ति स्थापित कर रखी थी जिसकी नियमानुसार प्रतिदिन पूजा होती थी नामदेव से उन लोगों ने कहा हम लोग बाहर जा रहे हैं देखना विट्ठलनाथ को खिलाएं बिना ना खाना उनका अप्रिय भोग लगाने का था किंतु नामदेव ने सीधा अर्थ लिया दूसरे दिन भोजन बनाकर थाल परोस कर मूर्ति के पास पहुंच गए और विट्ठलनाथ से भोजन करने का आग्रह करने लगे फार्म बार कहने पर भी विट्ठलनाथ टस से मस नहीं हुए नामदेव जी मिलाकर वहीं बैठ गए माता पिता की आज्ञा की अवहेलना करना मैं पाप समझते थे उन्होंने प्रतिज्ञा की थी कि जब तक विट्ठलनाथ भोजन नहीं ग्रहण करेंगे मैं यूं ही बैठा रहूंगा कहा जाता है कि नामदेव के हटते विट्ठलनाथ ने मनुष्य का शरीर धारण किया और भोजन कर गए।

            जब नामदेव के पिता लौटे और उन्होंने यह घटना सुनी तब उन्हें विश्वास नहीं हुआ बार-बार जन रामदेव ने कहा तब उनके आश्चर्य का ठिकाना नहीं रहा क्योंकि वह जानते थे कि यह बालक कभी झूठ नहीं करेगा उन्होंने कहा बेटा तू भाग्यवान है तेरा जन्म लेना इस संसार में सफल हुआ भगवान तुझे पर प्रसन्न हुए और स्वयं तुझे दर्शन दिया नामदेव यह सुनकर पुलकित हो गए और उसी दिन से दूरी लगन से पूजा करने लगे

              1 दिन नामदेव औषधि के लिए बबूल की छाल लेने गए पेड़ की डाल उन्होंने काटी थी कि उसमें रक्त के सामान तरल पदार्थ बहने लगा नामदेव को ऐसा जान पड़ा मालूम है किसी मनुष्य की गर्दन पर कुल्हाड़ी चलाई है पेड़ को गांव पहुंचाने का इन्हें पश्चाताप हुआ उसी दिन उन्हें उन्हें वैराग्य उत्पन्न हो गया और घर छोड़ कर चले गए घर किस अवस्था में उन्होंने छोड़ा इसका पता नहीं है किंतु यह पता चलता है कि यह देश के अनेक भागों में भ्रमण करते रहे साधु-संतों के साथ रहते थे और भजन-कीर्तन करते थे एक बार की घटना है कि 400 भक्तों के साथ यह कहीं जा रहे थे लोगों ने समझा कि डाकुओं का दल है डाका डालने के लिए कहीं जा रहा है अधिकारियों ने पकड़ लिया और राजा के पास ले गए वहीं राजा के सामने एक मरी गए उन्होंने जीवित कर दी राजा यह चमत्कार देखकर डर गया उसने उनसे क्षमा मांगी।

               नामदेव के संबंध में ऐसी सैकड़ों घटनाओं का वर्णन मिलता है इन घटनाओं में सच्चाई ना भी हो तो भी उनसे इतना पता चलता है कि वह महान पुरुष थे उनकी शक्ति एवं प्रतिभा अलौकिक थी उन्होंने ऐसी साधना की थी कि योग का इतना प्यार किया था कि बहुत सी बातें जो साधारण लोगों की असंभव जान पड़ती है उन्हें वह कर सके

             वे स्वयं भोजन बनाते और गाते थे उनके शिष्य भी गाते थे उन्हें अभंग कहते हैं उनके राजेश सैकड़ों अभंग मिलते हैं और महाराष्ट्र के रहने वाले बड़ी भक्ति तथा श्रद्धा से आज भी उनके अभंग कहते हैं महाराष्ट्र देश में उनका नाम बड़ी श्रद्धा से लिया जाता है

          महाराष्ट्र ही नहीं सारे देश के लोगों ने बड़ी श्रद्धा की दृष्टि से देखते हैं और उनकी गणना उसी श्रेणी में है जिसमें तुलसीदास, रामदास, नरसी मेहता और कबीर है.
